Hello Friends!
Once again, it’s been a lot longer than we had hoped since our last update, so thanks for being patient and keeping us in your prayers. It’s hard to believe but our trip to Tokyo is less than two weeks away. Things are coming together well for the trip, and we are excited for all that God has in store.
We had the wonderful privilege of meeting with fellow missionaries, Kevin, Kaori, and Justin Laverman two weeks ago in Westerlo, New York. Kevin Laverman pastors a church about 15-20 minutes from Dendoukan, where we’ll be working. It was a very encouraging, and sobering time with them and our church family at Westerlo as we heard about both the joys and challenges of ministry in Japan. God is doing great things in Japan, but the church needs our prayers as Japan remains a very difficult place to reach with the Gospel. We’re looking forward to meeting up with the Laverman’s during our visit to Tokyo this spring. Everyone at the First Baptist Church of Westerlo, NY was such an encouragement and blessing to us. We’re so grateful for the believers that have surrounded us with support and love.
While we’re excited to be embarking on this journey to Tokyo, it also comes with a lot of sorrow as well. Part of our plans for moving to Tokyo long term involves us moving to Maine to spend time with Kiki’s family. While we’re excited both for Maine, and to be close to her family and friends, it is also very sad to leave behind our wonderful friends here in PA, especially those at Calvary Community Church, and at Christian Life Center. We’re so grateful for the way God has used these people in our lives and know that we wouldn’t have been able to follow our burden for ministry in Japan without their support.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we finish our move to Maine over the next few days, and finish up some final things for the trip on March 18th. Please pray for God to help everything come together well both here in the U.S. and in Tokyo for our time in Japan. We’re still raising financial support for this trip, and appreciate your prayers for God to continue to provide funds and resources. Thank you all for keeping up with what God is doing in our lives, and for supporting us as we go forward. We hope you will be blessed as we see together what God has in store.
We are still raising support for this trip, so if you’d like to partner with us, you can do so at www.fim.org/get-involved/giving, by designating the support for “Katkaz5”. You can also stay connected with our more regular updates via Facebook at facebook.com/mackeysjapan.
God bless,
Paul, Kiki, and Judah
