Our August Update

Hello Friends,

We wanted to let you know what God has been up to in our lives since you’ve last heard from us, as well as where He has us headed in the coming months. If you’ve been wondering where we went since we got married back in August of 2012, here are some answers . . .

Where did they go after they got married in 2012?

After our wedding and honeymoon, we relocated to Langhorne, PA. Paul’s brother Dave pastors a church in the area, and we decided it would be good to take some time to get adjusted to married life and help out with some new programs for Calvary Community Church.

What have they been up to?

While living in PA, we have faced new challenges and adventures. Paul works two jobs dealing with computers; at one he fixes laptops and manages a small business. The other job is at a large church, where he handles all of the computers and IT needs. Kiki has worked for the most part at a Tea Store called Teavana.

At Calvary Community Church, we have had an opportunity to be involved in several ministries, including leading a College and Career ministry, leading Audio Visual Services at the church, and teaching small group Bible Studies. It has been a great experience learning to build community and friendships in a new area, as well as adapting to a new environment. The area we live in is much bigger and busier than either of our countryside homes; we have considered it to be a good half-way point between life in the country and life in Tokyo.

We are grateful for how God has allowed us to bless and be blessed by people in this church community, and we are excited about how He is using these experiences and opportunities to prepare us for future ministry.

What about Japan? Are you still planning on going?

Yes! We are still planning and working towards moving to Japan as missionaries. While we love the community we are in right now, God has kept the burden in our hearts to reach the Japanese people.

So When do you Plan on Going to Japan?

Originally we planned on being in Tokyo this fall, but God’s plans have been different from our own, and the process has gone  slower than anticipated. A wonderful, but unexpected adjustment is the addition of a little passenger who will be coming along. Yes, we are expecting our first child August 31st of this year. We feel so blessed and excited to become parents.

As of now, our target date for moving to Japan is early September of 2015. This would give us a little time to settle in before Paul would start Japanese language school in the fall. We will be working with the same missionaries as before, Kazu and Amy Kato at the same church that we visited in our last trip to Japan in 2011.

Two of the ministries we hope to get involved with right away are an English Teaching Program through the church, as well as helping lead monthly English church services to encourage other missionaries, and to reach out to lost people in the city.
